If if were my pond with intended RES, I would stock them with the FHM. RES from hatcheries are usually small and not prolific so I'd give them a head start so the population becomes well established before all the competition arrives. Instead of one large LMB, it might be better if you stock a few male LMB since they will not get over 2-4 lbs in the north. Smaller LMB are actually what you want to primarily eat the 3"-4" sunfish. Select male LMB off the beds in early May and verify their sex by squeezing the abdomen for milt.
