Or it could be an algae bloom crash but unlikely this early in the season where you're at. Also zooplankton can look brown.
Bill Cody is our resident algae expert. Hopefully he will chime in.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
