This is a 1/3 acre groundwater pond that is 8ft at its deepest. It was dug in early 2012 and stocked that spring. I put in 300 5-7" hbg and 100 smb fingerlings based on the recommendation of Laggis Fish Farm. It was void of any algae last year but has exploded with it so far this year. The attached pictures were from a few weeks ago and it has continued to get worse and now covers approximately 50% of the pond's surface. I hand feed sporadically through the year, probably only 3 to 4 days a week on average. I fill a medium McDonalds pop cup each time.
I don't have power at the pond. That will hopefully come next year, but what can I do this year to knock down the algae?
