then it floats to the top?? Help!

I have some in my personal pond and have not seen it on about 200 ponds I worked on this year. There is another similiar plant called penny wort, but mine looks just like 4 leaf clover and have not seen in any plant Id book. It is easy to control with 2% glyphosate app. I keep it in one corner with two applications/year. It is good cover since it is not as dense as some weed species.

I have several aquatic weeds ID books and looked on the net at all the sites on here for identifying aquatic weeds but have no luck. The plant looks like a 4 leaf clover and is rooted to the bottom of the lake and is along the shoreline out of the water as well. Once mature it floats to the surface and develops into a floating vegetation that has 4 round petals the size of a quarter or maybe half dollar size.

I'm puzzled because I have never seen this plant before and I've checked hundreds of ponds. I treated the surface mats with eagre. I hope this does the trick.

Any recommendations on treating creeping water primose and smartweed?

Check out a water garden plant called water clover or four leaf water clover (Marsilea mutica). Rodeo killed mine. It might be pictured on www.lilypons.com. . See Bog Plants - Hardy Floating. It is in their catalog.

thanks Bill for the name. It is funny I work on all these ponds and have never seen it excpet on the pond I live by.

Water clover is most common in the water garden -lily pond circles. Occassionally it "gets out". It is pretty invasive and I'm sure it is an exotic meaning it is not native to North America. Lilypons gets $6 for a small clump. You guys got some for sale?. LOL.

This stuff can really take over. I sprayed it with eagre and killed it but new pads keep popping up. I treated today with a granular 24D and hope this will knock it down.

I can't believe anyone would want it in their pond. It's a nightmare.

I will give it away by the truckload if you'll buy me another jug of eagre.

Can anyone recommend a good source for the cheapest products such eagre, cutrine granular, 24d granular, weedtrine. reward, pond dye etc. I have three catalogs I order from Stoney Creek, Aquatic Control, and Pond Guy. The prices vary so much on the exact same products. Anyone know a cheaper supplier?

Well I guess those who promote their businesses to sell and who are the so called experts who answer everyone's questions wouldn't want the average joe to know where they can get the best deal...Beware of the expert snake oil salesmen. I suppose the honest guys of Pond Boss will delete this post soon enough. They know where their bread is buttered......

What the ....is your point? Maybe it is b/c I have worked about 30 hrs the last two days (in lake management), but your post ticked me off. Is there a reason to post your income in lake management? What the carp does that suppose to mean to the readers? If you make that kind of money I would think you know the best source for aquatic herbicides. If you do your own homework you can find the best price on chemicals. If I knew a place that sells in small quanties to help other pond boss readers I would have posted it.

If I made anywhere close to $100000/yr I would pay to have my weeds sprayed or get the herbicide anywhere locally.
