out of nowhere, my water column is filled with a tiny green plant or algae or something? it looks like small pieces of fine green hair, about 1/16 to 1/8 inches long. nearly all of the individual "hairs" are seperated and suspended in throughout the water column. any idea what it is, and what i should do about it? btw 7.5 acre va pond. thanks in advance, jb

Visibility had been about 36+" but now with all the weired hair-like plant things its around 8". Also a new development, they've started clumping together. Some clumps are the size of grapes and some hame formed small mats on the surface about the size of a dinner plate. When I tried to pick some up to get a better look at it I discovered that they are not stuck together at all because they flowed through my fingers just as easily as they had when they were homogenously mixed throughout the water. I couldn't grab a single one with bare hand to save my live because they just flowed around my fingers like water. This wouldn't bother me that badly but I have no clue what these things are and the water is absolutly FULL of them.

Do you have the means to send a digital picture of this stuff? I am curious what it is.

Here is a link to my site with a link could not copy it for some reason. Click on Tree and Plant Resources and click on link on first site to Florida. It is the best in my opinion of id from description and pictures. Good luck!

i've looked at a lot of pictures and can't find a match. this is really stumping me. to keep you all updated, most of the small green "hairs" have turned brown and sunk, so i don't think they will cause a problem. i just wish i knew what this stuff is.
