I've looked at the specs on those amphibious vehicles, and most are rated for only 500 lbs or so while afloat. I would be interested to hear what your experiences have been. It just seems like a pretty small payload to me, by the time you put yourself, equipment, and mix on the vehicle, wouldn't max payload be exceeded?
