What about it makes you think it is a coppernose?

And either subspecies, it is a heck of a pretty fish...

Mainly the shape CJB that "forehead" makes me think coppernose.. Not positive just what I think..

Very nice male CNBG. Fewer wide bars and yellow on fin , and look where a line running up from the eye would intersect with a line from the ear tab. You can see about 4 rows of very dark scales (darker than the rest) that run across the forehead. Those are the scales (or the offsetting scales) that will turn copper during the spawn. Round shape plus the bent lateral line also indicate (but not morphological proof of)a CNBG.

Thanks for ID info. I have become a quit fond of these guys. I never realized all the different colorations that BG have.

Any well conditioned BG can have a "bent" lateral line. It does seem much more prevalent in CNBG and that is why I said "(but not morphological proof of)". I will post a couple pics to help.

Thanks Ewest. A lot of great pics. I took the liberty of scrolling through different grops as well.
