Does anybody have any experience growing out RES in cages?? If so any special instructions? Thank you!!

I don't think many do that because they don't take to pellets very well..

My experience is that you have to be willing to sacrifice fish to starvation if you want to have any fast growers. If you want fish big enough to avoid LMB predation, you should consider getting about five times more than you need, and get them small and cheap. Build a cage and starve the fish from everything but pellets and a certain percentage will give in and take to the artificial feed. 20% maybe. The ones that convert will grow like crazy.

Wonder what percentage will stay on pellets when released from the cage? Any rough guessage Bruce or experience?

It probably depends on the availability of live prey items. I'm taking a wild guess here, but I'd say that if there's very little else to eat, it would be 75%, but if there was lots of other things to eat it would be more like 25%.

Found a local who's gonna grow out some RES to sell I failed to ask him what he plans to feed them..
