We were starting to de-rail George's STUBBY WORMS - Field Test thread, so I moved the off-topic posts here.

So, to keep George's thread focused on his origional task, it's open season for Stubby Steves here. Bass on Stubby Worms in Georges STUBBY WORM - Field Test thread, everything else is fair game here.

Scott (esshup) mentioned in a PM that he split a SS worm about half way up and it really had some nice action in the water.

I just split this with some scissors:


Looks cool for starters. The Latex has some surface tension to it, so it opens up to the outward. I wish I knew where my Exacto knife set is, could be the beginning of some feet!

Looked at a Chubby for body parts but it looked a bit big. May need some surgery.

If you use a smaller worm hook, you can pull it thru the water in jerks and the legs seem to breathe. The worm hook acts as a keel and it doesn't seem to twist. Light wire, no weight and it sinks slowly.....

I'd bet it'd make a heck of a set of legs for a frog!

Every time I show this stuff to someone, they want to try it. Been making up little combo sample packs and passing them out.

Steve is actually excitedly waiting for our new molds to be finished.... "Crawfish" and "shrimp" bodies to be made with our formula.

If you cut a worm in half, you can make a quadapus out of it

My buddy is down at Reelfoot Lake in Tenn right now fishing for Crappie and Bluegills. Only Crappie are biting now due to the cold front and they're at the dam. Only thing that's worked (yesterday and this a.m.) has been minnows. Total between 4 guys so far is 24 fish.

I shoved a #6 Tru-Turn thru the quadapus. It was kinda funky with the cam still buried in the body, then I pulled it past the cam and it sits pretty solid on the hook now.

If you start carving on these, you will want to let the Latex skin over (air dry), otherwise it will just stick back together.

Anyway, the little pellet is stuck to the worm I cut in half, just from being next to it for some time.

One thing I am thinking of is getting a cheap soldering pencil to see if I can scab the surface of the latex a bit. Every material has it's temperature.

Gave out quite a few sample packs from the load I bought from esshup. Split them up so every group had each of the flavors to try out.

I only know of one group that will be pond fishing, but they don't feed. The rest will be fishing MI waters.

They all agreed to send me pics if they had any luck.

Best I can do for now. Just have to wait and see.

I just received some more Stubbys from Stacy last evening to play with - gonna use a worm for a trailer on Mrs. G's $Gill to tempt pure Florida "hard to catch" LMB. Yeah, Mrs. G will pick the colors.
First I had seen of the three inch Stubby worms - will be best on a fly - I think.

Try some as a trailer on a small spinner bait or lead head jig.

Will do. Think I will split a small worm and use it as a trailer on a Mrs. G's Dollar Gill. May try a 4 way split with a SS pellet at the head of the split to flare the split tails.

You can have fun with these things.

If you do a two way split, you can flatten out the ends so they really wobble in the water.

Just think how much fun you could have with a Play-Doh Fun Factory with Stubby Steve's as the medium

I took a 3" Brown Worm and flattened most of it out with a Bic Lighter by rolling it over. Trimmed off the square flat end to taper it a bit. Left the head part for later thoughts, but that is a Leech in the makings. YP Love Leeches!
