When is the best time to start feeding? Water temp was in the upper 40's a week ago, but had some ice on it this a.m.

60s. Start slowly, handfulls in the same spot and try the same time[s] daily. My GSH feed immediately after ice out, BG take a little longer.

I start feed when temps are consistently above 50 for my bluegill and yellow perch.
In the trout pond I've been feeding every few days all winter.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

what are the usual temps HSB will start to feed? How long for an Ohio pond/lake to get in the 60's water temp? A week of stable 60-70 degree weather with lows in the 40's?

I just walked around my pond with therm gun. Average surface temp is 58. I threw a handful of feed out and the fatheads went nuts. Nothing else came up.

My HSB, SMB and GSH have been feeding a week, temps in mid, upper 40s. BG still sluggish, no sign of YP but they're probably feeding too.
