I have drained my pond once again in my attempts to get it filled lol. I noticed that some of the area has great clay then I hit water and sand. It's kinda greyish sand/clay material. I also noticed there is a spring I just located about 35 yards from my pond that is starting to go dry. Is that what it is, a spring? I'm thinking about digging a trench then filling the entire side with clay to kinda cut it off. Also I dug down a little and saw a redish like tree stump. I have only pine trees round here and it came up 4 feet underground like it is prehistoric or something. It also had the clay/sand around it. How deep does i guess you call it a aquifer go?

Lots of questions, few definitive answers via this site.
You need help from a professional. Get in touch with the NRCS office locally, get an engineer or soil scientist out to your property. (NRCS is free)
If anyone can help figure out how to solve your problems, it's them.
