I would really like to see Nebraska's state record LMB fall.

Nice Green Carp! grin

You know what I find amazing? Massachusetts and Indiana's state records are in the ball park if not larger and of course much farther north.

Mass 15 lbs. 8 oz. (caught through the ice). Indiana 14 lbs. 12 oz.

The Indiana state record came from a private pond that is loaded with frogs and the Massachusetts state record came from a pond that is connected to saltwater and receives large migrations of alewives.

Maybe feed trumps a longer growing season?

Actually Massachusetts bass average larger than Indiana bass but I don't know why.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

A bass over 10 pounds in Nebraska is impossible.

Man, you quoting me made me realize how badly I butchered that sentence. Sheesh.

I'll bet the price of lake front lots on Cedar Lake boomed.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave,

Lakefront people down there must be different than here. Here 99 percent of them don't fish and in fact don't want anglers on "our lake" even if the lake is public. I've had people go out of their way to harass me in their power boats and jet skis.

Cecil - I have seen the same things here in MN. The fisherman seem to have been driven out by jet skis and large speed boats. I think this is part of the reason outdoorsmen like me leave the public water and build/manage our own private "lake". This in the land of 10,000 lakes. Really quite sad, IMHO.

Yeah, that happens here also. I remember one narrow minded type that got all bent out of shape while I was tournament fishing in the old days. He considered me catching bass out from under his dock was a personal affront. Heck, he was too busy mowing the lawn to catch fish anyway.

Ditto mnfish and Dave. My theory is avid anglers don't make enough money to buy or afford taxes on lake property.

I am blessed that I have some smaller lakes around me that are too small for power boats and not very developed. Those are my kind of lakes.
