Assuming daily feeding of 2-6 lbs/ac the standing crop and harvest would at least double and possibly be close to triple. Others could have better estimates than mine.

IMO with pellet feeding, the total fish standing crop would not change that much if LMB-BG or HSB,HBG,YP were used. However in the HSB,HBG,YP combination they may develop a greater fish biomass if they were fed more pellets per year. Each community is quite different recruitment wise and would respond quite a bit differently if an annual harvest was used. Supplimental stocking would be needed in the HSB,HBG,YP combination if a regular harvest occurred.

BILL CODY- Thank you, your comments are very close to what I have been wondering for a long time and just didn't know how to ask.

So, would you mean that the HSB,HBG,YP biomass could be greater than the other combo because they will physically be able to eat more feed?

Don't take this as an answer for the question you asked Bill. I think the annual harvestable fish biomass in a Hybrid stocked pond would be larger than a non-hybrid stocked pond because of the smaller YOY fish (below table fare size) in the non-hybrid stocked pond, if both ponds were on a supplemental feeding program. Biomass is Biomass, but the individual size of the fish that makes up that Biomass would be larger.

Here is my statement. "However in the HSB,HBG,YP combination they may develop a greater fish biomass if they were fed more pellets per year." My thinking is the HSB,HBG and YP would develop more fish biomass because more of the fish numbers and species were eating pellets (presumably fed more pellets to keep them plump, eating more growing more) compared to the LMB-BG combo where BG would be the primary fish that were eating the pellets. I have no proof of this just my opinion and thoughts.

So along this same line of thinking, I have had a question for some time. Why can't you just feed the BG more food to also increase their biomass of the pond?

This is just an idea, and am trying to undersatnd what flaws there are in it that I am not realizing. So please, any comments, ideas, etc, are more than welcome. There must also be some old threads that discuss this in depth somewhere that I can't find.

If you would take the extra amount of feed that you could get the YP,SMB,HSB to eat and put that same additional amount in a BG,LMB pond, it seems like the BG would take that up. They could either grow faster, or support higher quantities of BG. The LMB with their never ending desire to eat, would also increase in size or numbers because there is more BG. mass. In the end, the pond would either supply more fish of the sizes Bill mentioned in table fare sizes, or the individual size of the fish could be increased of both species.

Where am I thinking wrong? Where is the link that gets broken that will not allow this to happen?
