In an aquaculture setting max feeding (more than would result in growth at the rate desired) is deemed a waste. Not always seeking max growth and fat. That may be what CB1 is talking about. Somewhat. I actually feed them at half the rates on the feed bags (only once per day) and get excellent growth but still have lots of fatty tissue in the fish. I'd like to use a higher protein lower carb diet but it's not available locally.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
