I guess I'm in the minority, as I don't mind coyotes. I think it works the same way as a pond....if there's ample forage,(deer) then the coyotes will prosper. I've never trapped or killed a coyote, and when I'm in the woods, or fishing on the edge of the woods, I don't feel the need to carry a firearm, even though my game cams routinely catch coyotes. I've never felt threatened by them.
But...I can appreciate a good catch. Nice job with the hay set.
Well here in Oklahoma, you better carry if you have a large acreage. We have every predator you can imagine! We have them there "souped-up wildcats", better known as cougars. We also have Bobcats, badgers, skunks, coyotes, and other "nasty's" that will put a serious hurtin on you! I pack either my 9mm or my .357 magnum when I'm stomping through my heavily wooded 40 acres.....and I don't go anywhere afoot without my three Pit Bulls! If'n that ain't enough, we have Black Bear ranging this direction from Eastern Oklahoma. With my luck, I'd be the 1st victim in central Oklahoma to get mauled to death by a critter that isn't even supposed to be here!!!!!
