Wow! I guess that's the perks of living in a small town...I hauled 1500 lbs of sand, and another 1500 lbs of #8 stone for mixing some concrete last year....total cost for both aggregates? Under $12 And the loader operator dropped it on for me, even though I was prepared to shovel it on.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

For what you're doing, that should be fine...you'll probably end up with voids in the mix, but as long as the pvc is secure in the concrete it should work.

Take a hammer and tap the bucket gently and that will get rid of the voids. I would use small gravel.

I may have some sand nearby at one of my smaller ponds if memory serves. But sand is certainly the hardest of the materials for me to come up with. I'm reading online here and I think I'm going to go with a 5 or 6 parts stone to one part portland and one or 2 parts sand if I can find it.

Thanks everybody!!

That ratio should work fine. For years, it was considered to be 3-2-1.... 3 shovels stone, 2 shovels sand, and 1 shovel cement.

To save money cut the five gallon buckets in half use both half just set the bottomless half on a piece of plastic.. Done it many times go to any store but the cheapest bagged cement $3 here one bag per half bucket.. Fill half bucket half full of wet mixed concrete insert PVC pour the rest of the concrete over the PVC let sit overnight toss in lake.. Don't over think this..!

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

Bluegillerkiller that makes sense and I had thought about doing just as you point out. i thought I would just set the cut bucket into the ground a little bit, I doubt the concrete would go down into the ground.

All great ideas. Perhaps I am overthinking all of it. I have gone around to sites for new houses and have found a lot of pvc now and have plenty of old hoses.

The back of my element will be full of plastic and i should be able to make 10-15 things.

Thanks everyone!!
