When I lived in Oceanside, Ca., we had 'yotes in the yard and they were brazen enough to walk down the street. The houses were further apart than your neighborhood, but still..... Cats left out at night weren't safe, but at that time, no dogs were taken. A few years later a friend had a very friendly, docile (when he was home) pit bull. You didn't want to go in the yard when they weren't home. She was killed by a pack of 'yotes when he and his wife were at work and she was in their fenced yard. He lived in Fallbrook, Ca.
