There was a YP farm up here that was getting discharge water from a nuclear power plant. Kept things nice and warm, all winter. Can't remember how many acres, but it was substantial. One day, the discharge water was overdosed with lethal levels of chlorine. Everything was killed and the residual chlorine made the ponds unusable. Lengthy, multimillion $ lawsuit followed. Power company won, of course.
If you go downtown Grand Haven, MI. The streets and sidewalks are all heated with discharge water from the local power plant.
I went downtown last week to get my new insurance papers. Coming out of the snow covered streets, I thought I was seeing a mirage. No snow anywhere. The sidewalks and streets were warm, and fairly dry. A block away, ya practically needed 4WD!
Yep Ken, many BTU's are required.
