I have a new pond with very little water in it..I have just had a well drilled..I plan to run water from the well into the pond..what is the best way to do that getting benefits for oxygenation from the method?? should I run the line to the bottom of the pond and have it pushed up like a waterfall or just poured in from the pier or have it horizontally in the water? Any thoughts appreciated...

If the waterline will be pressurized, I highly recommend the following:

Home Depot has all the parts. I built mine with 1.5" PVC pipe reduced down to 4 different $3 brass sweeper nozzles(less than $30). I guess it would really depend on the following:
1) GPM delivered to the pond at what PSI(really pump capabilities).
2) Do you want the pump to run continuously while filling the pond? I feel it is better than to have the pump turn off and on repeatedly. Does the well supply other needs? Will you have a pressure tank on the system?

I am contemplating do something like this too. I called the company that put in my well this past March and they recommended leaving the water on full for an extended period of time. He even suggested using a couple water lines to make sure that the pump did not turn off. He told me that the pump turning on and off frequently used a lot more power than running the pump 24/7 and it also is harder on pump.

I have a submersible pump, not sure if this is true for a jet pump.

It's true for electric motors in general.

I do not have a pump on the well yet..Im considering getting a compressor and jet the pond full over a several day period....if not then I would leave the pump on continuosly till full...Preliminary specs on well show a 60 gallon/min flow....I was considering getting a 1 and 1/2 HP or 2 HP pump with a pressure tank....I would not know how to figure what I needed to make the oxygentator from that infor..

Bender,

I have a submersible(a new 2HP 24 stage)as well. I regulate the water with a gate valve down by the SupHorizOxyg so that I disperse enough water so my pressure reads about 40 PSI while filling the pond. By having my pressure switch set 40/60, I still have enough water & pressure for house usage at all times.
My neighbor's pond is down about 5 foot from the drought the last 2 years.......mine is full. Of course, I am about $3K poorer because of the new pump & additional pressure tank.
Bottom line....I'm happier and the fish are happier which in turn makes the wife happier....what a vicious circle....

Jeffh,
The SHO works by moving the pond water's surface and adds O2(to the well water) by shooting the water under pressure into the pond. The number of valves would be decided by the GPM your pump delivers. Is the well/pump for the pond only? If it is, I would want to put as much water in the pond per minute as I could. I am only putting about 16 GPM into the pond off of the 4 headed SHO. Thus leaving about 6-8GPM in reserve for house usage at 40 PSI.

the well is for the pond only...although i will have other water lines coming from the tank..they are mainly for sprinklers to water grass at times...so theoretically if I have 60gallons a minute I could use several valves?

Yes, as many as you probably want to set up. I figured about 4GPM per sweeper nozzle. I even experimented cutting the tip off to allow more water thru each nozzle. As long as it has pressure and set at the surface of the pond....you should be good to go. I think it is a good idea to have a gate valve before the SHO in order to maximize pressure/volume for the number of heads you decide to install. That way, you can "set it and forget it".

What is a gate valve? Is that just a valve that opens the water flow to a set amount?

You got it! Good luck and Merry Christmas.

PS: my 4GPM per nozzle was based on 40 PSI.
