I am contemplating do something like this too. I called the company that put in my well this past March and they recommended leaving the water on full for an extended period of time. He even suggested using a couple water lines to make sure that the pump did not turn off. He told me that the pump turning on and off frequently used a lot more power than running the pump 24/7 and it also is harder on pump.
I have a submersible pump, not sure if this is true for a jet pump.
