Another fizzle for us. Predicted 1"-3" for here, but Central Indiana and Ohio are supposed to get dumped on.

So far we've gotten about 3 inches of snow since about 8:00 am. It was in the low 20s when started as heavy freezing rain about 5:00 am. It is supposed to keep falling into the night, but they say the upper atmosphere may warm and change back over to freezing rain. We also got about 2 inches on Christmas.

Cabin fever has set in. My sister-in-law and father-in-law are trapped here until Friday morning.

I just wish I would have gotten the chains on the tractor yesterday.

Predicted anywhere from 4" to 12" for us and we got 1"-2". I think it has to do with how dry Oklahoma is currently.

I'd say dumped on is a good description.... 11" on my back deck.



Been plowing snow with the mule all morning, have some piles pushed up around 5' tall. Headed up on the roof now, drifting snow has restricted the furnace exhaust, and shut it down. Home alone, wish me luck!

Be careful up there! I have a snow rake - I don't relish going up on a roof with snow.

Made it back alive.

Fizzled out in the southern portion of Indiana too. We were supposed to be in a band of 3-6" and got about 1/2". I want what Sparkplug got. (Be careful what you wish for)

You can have my share. I have moved many TONS of snow today.

It stopped snowing up here, got 4"-6" max. What'd you get down there?

We got 2 inches max. I heard on the weather channel a small town near Evansville, got 18.3 inches!

Thursday morning & I measured several flat spots and got a consistant 9 1/2 inches of snow here in E. Central IN. Good for filling the pond but not so good for driving in.

We ended up with 12 inches, but have drifts approaching 24" in places. The road we live on is nearly impassable, don't imagine they will plow it for awhile....lots of more highly populated roads that will get attention first. Can't get out, but have food, electricity, and heat. We will just wait. May snoeshoe the 1/2 mile down to the ponds today.

How about our friends down south, like EWEST, and our friends out in Oklahoma?

We got 8-9 inches of snow here. I plowed, but left about an inch of snow in the driveway because it then rained most of the night.

More scheduled for Friday night and Saturday.

As you while away the hours, try to remember that inactivity is not the friend of your legs. At the very least, stand up and walk around every hour or so.

We had about 5 inches of rain and lots of wind (60 mph). North and south of here even more rain and tornados did some damage. One lake has water over the top of the 30 inch standpipe but no danger. We are about 20 inches over normal rainfall for the year. Got soaked Christmas day just getting people in their cars after lunch. Very heavy horizontal rain.

DJS how about you - any damage ?

Roads are clear here in Central and the snow is doing some melting. Probably got 1"-2". It is hard to tell with how much the snow was blowing around. I have some friends in Arkansas and they got about a foot of snow on top of ice. Just west of here, the snow was a higher amount up to 4" but nothing like they predicted.

Less than an Inch in Floyd county which is just across the Ohio river from Loiusville Ky. Other place is in Washington County. Havn't been up there yet to check.

Northern Oklahoma got nothing. Middle of a record drought, even my "ever-full" spring fed pond is drying up. Last rain over an inch was clear back in April. Since then I think we've had 3 events that were about a quarter inch each. Time to build a dock, I guess!

And add structure! It is amazing what 60 miles can do.

Most of our snow will melted by the end of the day.

Not even a remnant snow flake up here.

Been nice and sunny all day.

Supposed to get a few flakes tomorrow.

Well we got over two inches of rain BEFORE it started to snow and then we got 4-6 inches of wet snow!!

Our pond is up over 6 inches!!! In fact, it is as full as ever! Even with the drought, we are making some headway!

BTW, sorry Scott if I hijacked your thread, I just had a great time out at our pond these last few days and man we really needed the rain!!

Lot's of warm water pockets in that lake Brian..looks like that T has been fighting some....

Wife and I drove through the PA mountains in the storm...35 mile stretch of PA turnpike with 6-8 inches of slush was untouched...the rest was kept pretty clear.

I think I see how you caught it.

Schedule sent! The gloves were there because I was picking up trash in the pond and then I saw the Tilapia. I had to corral it and chase it into the shallows were I was able to catch it man style!! When I released it, in deeper water, it swam off towards the channel and headed south towards the duck island.

Rex, that Tilapia did have two marks on its back, one on each side. Both marks were behind the dorsal fin. Any thoughts?

By the way, I tested the temp in three areas of the pond and all of them showed 55 degrees down to about 6 or 7 feet.

Scott, what was your guess on how I caught it?

My guess is that you caught it at Kroger's, but I was wrong once and after 28 years she still won't leave.
