Myth #1. SMB need deep cool water. SMB do not need deep ponds with cool water. We have disproved that may times here. I've raised them to 22" long in a 7 ft deep mud bottom, 0.3 ac pond.
Myth #2. SMB are the hardest fighting FW fish. Wrong. Catch a HSB 16"-20" long and it will fight harder and longer than any other same length fresh water fish.
Myth #3. YP need weedy ponds to grow well and big. Wrong. YP can be easily raised to 14" often 15" long in weed free ponds. The ponds do not have to be deep either. YP of 15" were raised in the 7ft deep SMB pond mentioned above.
