Sunil, I don't even own a camera but several of my friends have taken several pictures on their phones and cheap replacement cameras so I will try to round some of them up and email to you. thanks.

Ken, it sure is cool that you have fliers in a pond. Maybe it's because we don't have them up here, but they are a cool fish.

Fliers get bigger then 5-7 in. in this area and the record is over 3 or 4 lbs. but couldn't verify it on the net. Ewest has probably seen some big ones. They are really cool, colored like a shiner and the body like a hybrid of croppie and BG. They love old mill ponds and I haven't caught one in 30 years till that pond flooded last year.

aught it on a small spinnerbait similar to a Mepp's minnow. It's called a "Flier" sunfish.

Dave W., yes they are cool. Do you have any bowfins, we have several, they are meaner and uglier then some of the women in Dave D. state.

There's a picture (I think somewhere here) of one of them in spawning colors. Irridescent green fins.

Ken, we have a few bowfin around in SD. They were really common when I was doing a study on small, pretty Minnesota lakes about 2 hours east of us.
