George, I'm right there with you. I looked hard at O2 options last Fall, and the surface aerator seemed to make the most sense for me in drought situations.
My biggest expense, irregardless of the type aeration I might use, would be getting a power line to it. It would have to be around 1000', and I would have to have that laid on the face of the dam.
I know electrical rates vary greatly, but do you have a monthly ballpark cost of operating the Kasco?
Al, since I am the pond "share cropper", based on past annual feed bills and average electrical usage, we write a monthly check to take care of expense. We run the surface aerator 24/7 when water temps hit 80 degrees and the bottom diffuser system 24/7 otherwise. We may have to write a larger check if we have continued drought

Being a share cropper ain't so bad. I'm am too, my parent's just haven't figured it out yet.
