We have a 1/4 acre pond about 12' to 14' foot in the deepest part.I have been fighting some duck weed and watermeal or meal weed. I have been spot spraying Reward with some dish soap as a surfactant for the past couple of years. I also have lilly pads on one end of the pond that I have to protect from the Reward. Now that it has cooled down here in southern Ohio I see this film all over the pond. We do not get much wind across the pond so it pretty much covers it. In the spring I see also a film that I thought was pollen from the pine trees around the pond. Does anyone know what this might be? And what to do to rid of it.

Without a photo, all I can make is a supposition. In a pond that may have a higher than normal wind-borne organic load (such as pollen), such a film is quite common. The natural surface tension of the water surface allows the accumulation of fine organic particles. These films are harmless, usually seasonal and should dissipate given time.

Kinda makes sence to me but It's only been showing up in the last few years. Thanks for your info I really appreaciate it.

DW and WM can produce various films like that. Also many herbicides cause plants when dying to look pinkish/white. Sprayed DW can look like that.
