He actually had both GS and Tshad as well as an awesome crappie "white perch" as they call them in south GA. Numerous small bluegill and low percentage but giant bluegill around feeders.

We are recommending 10/acre of two different sizes. Availability not too good right now.

Safe? I think more info will be needed for someone to help. Are you worried about the bass being transfered being eaten? What are the largest predators you have in the pond now?

At the present there are several 26 in. bass and CC to 18 lbs. if it floods from Sandy we won't know till water settles down. Sooner or later the Mattoponi will bring some bl. cats. as they are starting to take the river over. thanks

Well, what most say is that LMB eat 1/3 its size. So the 12" LMB stocked should be ok. with the 26" bass. However, I don't have a clue on how big of a fish those CC would eat......

fish n chips, the 1/3 rule is most often applied to BG, when it comes to shad its even more. When it comes to a bass eating fish like trout and other LMB, they can eat even up to 60% of their length.

This is from a chart in the back of Bob Lusk's book Raising Trophy Bass

These are for LMB when I say "Bass"
Bass Length 12.5 can eat Gizzard Shad 5.37 BG 4.09 and Bass 6.65.
Bass length 22.5 can eat Gizzard Shad 12.02 BG 8.77 and another bass 13.98inch.

I would have to see a bass eat a 9inch bg or 12inch GS tho, that just seems outrageous. be we are talking about a 7lb bass doing this too.

So a bass 22.5 inch can eat another bass that weighs just over 1 lb.

Get out and fish.

Sorry to have confused you Kenc. By that formula, you would need to stock 15.5"+ LMB to avoid predatation by the big fish. Thanks jakeb for the info.
