How far away can I place a compressor from the pond?
We don't live on the property and it doesn't have power, so I'm looking into putting a compressor next to our neighbor's house and running a trunk air line down to the pond. Straight line distance is about 950' from the property line to the water's edge.
Any suggestions on how to balance the wire run and tubing run to minimize overall losses?

Depends on the type of compressor.How many cfm are you trying to deliver to the pond. 950ft may be a reach for some compressors and cosidered a short distance for others.
