on a serious note I have been watching this thread as I'm in the process of adding striped bass to my pond.So open water forage is high on my list.

I'll also add that the stripers will hopefully help me surpass the state lmb record wink I know I could get a record lmb with other means but adding a higher level predator (that I love) seems more "sporting" to me then managing the pond heavily(as in adding heavy forage).

with that said what about the lowly yellow perch?

Are you adding HSB or pure striped bass? I wonder how much true striped bass would help keep LMB populations in check. I tend to think, as a mostly open water predator they wouldn't help that much. Now maybe they could be useful in keeping a gizzard shad population controlled.
