I've heard that many TX rattlesnakes rarely use their rattles as a warning anymore, since those members of the specie that carried this typical hereditary trait have mostly been killed and eaten by feral hogs.
I wonder if that may be the one good thing about having feral hogs around?
I was not aware that rattlesnakes were part of their diet.
