Hello guys and gals, I'm currently building a new pond. I live near Centerville TX and am very interested in pond management and fishing in my new pond. Its a small project, 3/4 acre at most. It's about 1/4 filled as of today. After reading some great advice on this forum I placed some structures in my pond. I will try to post some pics in the appropriate topic when I figure all this out.

Hello Everyone!
I've decided to have a micro pond, which is nothing more than a large cement pot that is no more than maybe 25 gallons if that. Can someone help me with a adequate means of heating it? I was hoping maybe some type of submersible light perhaps providing for both aesthetics and heat. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!

Welcome Koi.

Take a look at the floating heaters and the sinking de-icer heaters at a farm supply store. Here is a link to a page with these types of safe electric outdoor water tank heaters..

I've used 300 watt aquarium heaters to keep my 100 and 300 gallon stock tanks that are sunk into the ground de-iced in the winter.

You say de-iced but what are the water temps in the 100 to 300 gallon stock tanks?

What brand of heater you use as I bought some cheap ones off the net and not sure they will hold up, but have worked great at keeping my 10 gallon tank with tilapia in it at an ideal 84-86 degrees.

Temps? Above 32°F. wink (Never checked.) Warm enough for Tilapia? Not a chance. As for what heater, I've bought them off of e-bay. Some were made in China, others seemed like they were made here. Both orders had one fail. For the price, I wasn't that worried about it. I just went with the cheapest ones from a seller here in the U.S.A.
