Santa brought my father a Koenders windmill aeration system for X-mas. We spent a Saturday putting it together, but bad weather and busy schedules have prevented us from installing it on the pond. Our primary purpose for the aerator is to provide waterfowl a, as large as possible, open hole of water when the pond freezes. The pond is quite old (80+ years??) and has accumulated significant quantities of silt. The pond is presently 4-5 deep near the dam, which I suspect will be the limiting factor of the size of the open hole. Any suggestions as to how we can maximize the de-icer capabilities of this system?
