My wife and I bought a house and 1.4 acre pond in early may. Both the bass and bluegill population was quite stunted. I have been harvesting a few bass and about 150 less than 4 inch bluegill. Back in the spring every bluegill that I caught was very slim. Since may I have fed 150 pounds of AM 500 and 100 pounds of purina gamefish. I broke out the fly rod this afternoon and 8 out of 10 fish looked fat and happy. The one in my picture weighed .57 pounds and was just over 8 inches. I am very happy with the improvement this summer.
I am managing for a large number of bass and semi trophy bluegill. If I can manage to grow a few 1 pound bluegill in the next couple of years, then I will have achieved my goals.
