After 3 years of our pond being void of vegetation, we now have abundant growth. I'll ID the plants soon. Suffice it to say that fish are finally thriving. There are all sorts of things for them to eat living among the plants.
For some strange reason I cannot find fish trap plans on this forum. What am I missing? Would someone kindly direct me to the links?
Main species in pond are LMB, SMB. YP. We have a few RBT, 2 big GC (30"), a couple of BCP, 2 GSF. All fish are very fat, even pot bellied. Although the local state fish biologist claims BG don't reproduce well in our cool waters here in sw Colorado, I'd like to get some other forage fish going for the bass other than the YP. My alternative would be to manage the YP for greater quantity so that the bass have more to eat.
Perhaps the presence of plants will do just that. Before this year the only way for a YP to hide would be to crawl into one of the brushpiles I've placed into the pond.
