Welcome to the forum! I made my pond roughly 1 ac in size (average) but it will vary from 1 1/4 down to about 3/4 acre depending on the ground water level.
I've found that making a pond with sides that slope 3:1 is about as steep as I'd like because I like to walk down to the waters edge. 4:1 to 6:1 is even easier, but there could be problems with aquatic weed growth in the shallow water, depending on the water clarity. Weeds will grow if and where the pond bottom can get sunlight.
I made my pond with a maximum depth of 22 feet, but it filled in with about 3' to 4' of sediment within a month of being completed thanks to Hurricane Ike. I still have enough water when the pond is low, but my pond will drop up to 6' in water depth if I don't supplement the pond with well water.
I have to constantly remove LMB from the pond so they don't eat themselves out of house and home.
