Hi, I have a 2.2 acre pond, and this year I have a muddy water problem. the water is ~ 20 feet deep at the deepest point, and is usually quite clear (was clear all last year). This year its been nasty muddy brown about 2/3 of the time, and I dont know why. Is it algae of some kind? What can I do about it?

Theres bass, bream and carp in the pond.

Thanks!!

Can you post a pic ? Is the water level low? May be the carp.

Ponds around here have the same amount of nutrients in them, but only 1/2 the volume of water.

That leads to some interesting changes from last year to this year!

The water is somewhat lower than usual, it usually is in the summer. Its fed by a well that really can only 'top it off', its too small to make up for big changes in water level.

I'll get a pic as soon as I can.

If you are in a drought area, and are pumping a lot of make up water, could it be that the make up water is cooler than the pond water, displacing it on the bottom and forcing up to the surface more turbid water? Just a guess.
