I have a 3/4 acre pond and where the pond runs-off I want to build another 1/2 acre pond. If any of you have any pics of two ponds side by side or your multiple ponds I would love to see them for ideas. I want to do this for several reasons. I have the useable space, the beauty a pond adds to your property, the addition of new/different fish. (And maybe to drive dozers and ex's for a few days!

Nobody has two ponds next to each other?

I do. I just don't have pictures showing their relationship to each other. My two main ponds are about 200 feet apart. A 1/4 acre pond feeds a 3/4 acre pond, via a number of smaller settlement ponds. The two ponds are extremely different from each other regarding water quality. The higher pond is currently experiencing a massive blue-green algae outbreak, while the three settlement ponds below it, and the 3/4 acre pond below the settlement ponds, all look great.

I have helped rework a neighboring pond that we turned into three ponds in succession. We are planning a fourth pond above the present highest pond. The three present ponds are extremely different from each other, even though they are only separated by culverts/spillways that are about 20-foot wide. The middle pond is plagued with serious filamentous algae and blue-green algae, while the upper and lower ponds are extremely clear and clean. I did a presentation of this at the last Pond Boss conference. I'll see if I can find the photos so I can post them.

Cecil does too in his back yard. Two are about 15 feet apart and there's a third about 25 feet away.

Maybe not exactly what you're wanting but here's my 2.

First one's outflowing from small to big, and second one's with water down.

My 1/4 acre pond is elevated approximately 2' above my 1 acre pond. These ponds are seperated by my road and connected via a 12" culvert" that runs under the road. The high side of the culvert is rocked in and 20' of grasses between the culvert opening and the 1/4 acre pond.

Originally, I had planned on raising bait fish in the top pond then every fall "pull the plug" and wash as much food as I could into the 1 acre pond.

Today, I use each pond to raise different species or combinations of fish.

Been looking for a chance to jump in on these forums, and here it is.

We have three small ponds, two are side-by-side. The front and middle ponds share a dam and there's about 35 feet between them at the water lines. The front pond is elevated roughly 12 feet above the middle pond. The front pond is a little over 1/2 acre, and the middle one is almost 1-1/2 acres. The middle one is fed by a creek, and, in heavy rains, the front one drains into the middle one.

When we bought the property 8 years ago, the front pond had been neglected for many years and had lots of small, under-fed LMB in it.
The previous owner built the middle pond a couple of years prior with the intention of moving the LMB to it. We have moved lots of the LMB to the middle pond, and now just use the front pond as our "nursery".
We enjoy having the ponds so close to each other. I might add - both are entirely different when it comes to algae, plants, water quality, etc.

We also have a little 1/2 acre pond at the very back of the property.

My husband and I bought this property in northeast Texas to have an out-of-the-way place to go and relax on weekends, away from Dallas and work. Ha! We spend every weekend working on this property. It has become an obsession.

Now that's a good first post! Welcome to our little family. How large is your property altogether? Do you have a cabin, or do you go back to Dallas everyday?

Thanks. I have been a member of this forum since 2004, and we have pretty much maintained our ponds through advice in this site.

Our property is 32 acres and we ended up building a weekend house. We work in Plano and come out here on weekends only.

I'll go ahead and post more info on the introduction section.

jkrueger, that is a very nice place. It would be hard for me to only be there on weekends.

It's very difficult. I just walked the property to take photos to submit in an intro post here. It's 70�, fish are hopping out of water, and a deer ran from me.

Doesn't get any better than this.
