If you take a full sized mannequin and sit him next to your pond for a couple of weeks the fish will get used to him.
Then you can sit next to your mannequin and watch fish feed a few inches in front of you without spooking them.
This is very fun and allows you to identify size and species of fish much easier.
Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

This happens all the time when you hand-feed, Bruce. My fish have had a dummy next to the pond when they eat for years.

I dont have anything around but my fish definatly know me.. hahah they follow me around the pond. I hand feed my fish early then late in the afternoon. In the morning its aquamax 600 and 400, for a short feeding, the cats dont even get there yet, and the stripers clean it up. The afternoon I do the same thing but then when thats done I hammer them with Purina Gamefish, that goes on for 10 min or so. Its one of my favorite times of the day.

Bruce I would never have thought of using a full sized manequin for feeding fish. Where can I get one?
