This winter was hard to get used to for me. I have managed wildlife for over 25 years and lakes for about 4 years down in Alabama and last summer accepted the same position up here in Indiana for Tony Stewart. Snow snow and snow! I didnt think that the lake would ever thaw, but this week it did and the temps got up and I feed some and they ate. Boy was I happy to see this day come. I hope that some of you others up north are seeing the same. I've become a Tony Stewart fan since he popped up in a Pond Boss article.

One of my patients works for Hendrick Motor Sports, so I have all sorts of Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson stuff.

Can you bring a Tony Stewart autographed hat for a door prize???

Bruce, thanks for being a fan but I dont know if I will see Tony before I leave next week to come to Texas. We spent yesterday up at the office for meetings and he left for Charlotte in the evening and should be in Atlanta today through sunday. He said that he may not come in next week due to some commitments and the Bristol race. We never know here at the house when he will be home until he walks in the door. I will be leaving on Wednesday going to Alabama before I come on to Texas. Bob Lusk has seen how Tony and I stay on the road. He has even flown with us and seen how we have our meetings in the air. Im looking forward to meeting everyone at the convention. See you there!

When he was but a wee lad, Bruce's Dad gave him baseballs signed by Mickey Mantle, Honus Wagner, and Roy Hobbs.

The one autographed by Buddy Ebsen has a big smudge on it.

I will make sure that I drop by and visit. Tony was telling me the other day that he wished that this convention was on one of the off weekends for them, but we know how scheduling can be. I will have some pictures since we have started our program with our fish and wildlife on the property here. We are now in the process of preparing the property for our new houses. My house will be taken down and rebuilt starting next month and Tony's 18000 sq. ft. log home will begin this fall. You guys will love the fish tank [32000 gal.] with bass and other fresh water fish. The plans on this project is something to see. Again I look forward to meeting all of you next week.

The three weekends there should NOT be NASCAR: Mothers' Day, Easter, and the PB Convention.

My ponds are thawed and I fed some bass yesterday. This morning I woke up to an inch of snow n the ground. :rolleyes:

I, too, have been anxious--especially with the pond being new and all, so I've carried my little bucket to the pond and threw food out to my baby fish, have I seen anything--NO!! I know in a few weeks, with a lot of patience on my part, it will all come together! The last couple of days have been nice 60 -70s and then today happened--cold. Mark saw our first wildlife come in today, a large canadian geese...he said it kind of scared him; he was in the house and heard HONK! HONK! HONK! Got a couple of good pictures for me to enjoy. Of course, we really don't want geese so I'm going to research the POND BOSS here and see what everyone else does. Hey, Jody, I think you are in my part of Indiana. Another Southerner comes North like I did.

I guess I never appreciated our mild winters enough. I fished last weekend in shorts. Caught nice LMBs very shallow. Water temperature 57 t0 62. CNB hitting food at all four feeders.

Oh yes, I never thought much about cold winters and never had to worry about the lakes freezing over like we do up here. It has taken some time to get used to. We still have some property down in Alabama about 20 miles s.w. of Tuscaloosa and make the trip down that way about every 2-3 weeks, so we did get to see some warm days this winter. Also spent 2 weeks in Daytona at the race in Feb. and went out to Pheonix Az. the 1st week of Feb. with Tony's sprint car team. Now Im ready for some sun and heat up here.

A cold front these last couple of days has slowed things down here. Saturday is suppose to be in the upper 50's and I might can feed some. I wished that the fish ate like the deer here during the cold months. I feed the deer about 2000 lbs of deer feed every 10 days. We ended last year feeding the fish about 50-60 lbs per day and hope to start back with about the same amount. Today was fence work day and I didnt get to check on the fish. We have about 4 miles of chain link fence and about 2 miles of wrought iron fence to maintain along with feeding the deer and fish. I cant wait till some of us meet next week at Arlington. It should be a very intresting weekend.
