Zep, over the years I have tried stocking crawdads several times. I bought them "live" from the grocery stores. However, within days they were on the bank and had committed suicide by coons.
So, I got on the web and found a Louisiana crawdad farmer. He told me that the bugs were alive when bought but weren't healthy due to handling and icing. In other words, they wiggled and crawled but were mostly dead. He recommended that I buy from him or another bug farmer and have them shipped overnight. He also asked whether the pond where I stocked them was aerated. Nope. I thought they could adapt to just about anything. Evidently not.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
