I live on a 2 acre lake. We put in an aeration system 5 years ago that has been running 24/7 since.

The system consists of two diffuser locations with 4 diffusers in each location. First location is about 50 yards from the compressor, the other is about 100 years from the compressor.

The diffusers closest to the compressor seem to be putting out about the same volume as when new. The one farthest away from the compressor is definitely not putting out as much volume.

I'm assuming that the compressor is not pumping out as much air as when new.

Any suggestions as to what can be done maintenance or repair wise? (unfortunately the documentation that came with the system cannot be found).

Much obliged,

Allan

Sorry to hear that Allan. There are some bonafide aeration experts on here, I expect one or more will be along shortly. It is my limited understanding that many brands of pumps are rebuildable, or at least can be freshened up with a variety of kits.

Are there any identifying names/numbers on your pump?

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Like he said, pump info would help greatly! Have the diffusers been cleaned in that time period? Some systems usually have an air filter (muffler) that need changing/cleaning (changing is easier) every 4-6 months. Have they been maintained?

Is there a pressure gauge on the system? If not, think about adding one to help diagnose the problem in the future.

BTW, welcome to the forum!!

There should be two valves hooked to the compressor, one for each station. You can close them independently and direct more air to the problem station which will help clean it. I also agree that if it has not been recently serviced, it's due for a new filter and general inspection.

What kind of compressor is in the system? Both Rotary Vane Compressors & Rocking Piston Compressors need to be maintained with a repair kit approx. every 2 1/2 to 3 years. If you have never done this chances are it is way past due to get one of these kits. Do you know the brand name and model # of the compressor? I will see if there is anything I can do to help you.
