I'm beginning to understand now. You want to help the pond during the winter.

O.K. I'd look into an aeration system that has multiple diffusers, and place them about 30' apart in water that is roughly 1/4 to 1/3 the total pond depth, in an area that will allow anything that might get into the open water access to shore to get out. I almost lost my 2 dogs a few years ago because of that. If you want to DIY, look into the system that RC51 made. The generator should be able to run it. There are other suppliers here (i.e. Vertex) that make plug 'n play systems too.

To help with O2 during the winter, there are 2 things to do:
1) shovel off the snow from the ice to allow more sunlight in to the water, which allows more photoplankton to grow, who produce O2 during the day (but use it during the night).

2) Have open water during the winter, which will also do what's in #1 above, but will also allow gas exchange between water and air (out with the bad, in with the good).

I've heard of solar systems running almost $10K too.......
