This past Friday evening while sitting on the dock flipping pellets to my wife's "pets", our resident pair of geese lighted on the pond and after watching us for a few minutes, paddled over and had a feast on the Purina GFC we were tossing in for the fish.
I hope the fish didn't mind losing out on their free offerings, but those honkers really had an appetite for those fishy smelling pellets.
Does anyone here have a problem of "pellet predation" by uninvited guests?

The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!

I'm beginning to think that everything eats fish feed. I personally have witnessed consumption by the following: Dogs, cats, raccoons, possums, turtles, ducks, geese, muskrats, crows, and one cow of questionable lineage.

Right now, my wife loves the fact that we have geese that come to the pond. She's not too fond of the mess they leave on the dock, but for now she's definitely thinking it's a plus to have them around.
I'm sure she'll have a change of heart when the mess becomes a part of everyday life. Then she'll be asking if there are any good recipes, as long as she doesn't have to watch the removal process.
I think the "flying toilet" description is a classic too. I think I'll be using that one.

The FT potentially are bad for the water , pets and humans. Not good on the fish food budget or the fish for that matter.

There are "NO" good recipes for geese. Maybe Jerky.

Brine it first, them smoke it or slow grill it with some wood...

-RFL I find that geese tend to predate heavily on the pellets I feed them from my 12 gauge. Sometimes they even get so full of my pellets they can't fly away. Don't encourage them - you'll regret it dearly.

Spark, my dumb Chesapeake Bay Retriever goes nuts for the pellets I bring home for our BG we keep in an aquarium! That dude will sniff them out no matter where I've put them and he utterly destroys whatever container they are in and eats every last one. I guess the good side of this is that his relative weight is easily around 130%!!!

IIRC a goose poops every 10 minutes whether it wants to or not.  They're BAD!! We turned somewhere around 40#-50# of goose breast into jerky last year trying different flavors. None was bad, a few were better than others. All the jerky didn't last a month, so somebody liked it!!

Don't encourage them - you'll regret it dearly. I believe you. I just need to get my wife past wanting some of everything living on the lake. She's not a big fan of a food chain. She likes having the bass in the lake, but didn't like it when a bass came up and grabbed a BG or two we were feeding the other evening. I think the term would be 'conflicted'. Can't they all just get along? -RFL

I suppose about anything will eat them. My pug, Jr. Puggy likes to hang out at my feet while I"m feeding and clean up anything that I might drop. It's amazing how quickly wildlife, and tamelife for that matter, catches on to a free meal.
