YP eggs after they are water hardened (several minutes after laying) are pretty durable and tough. Just dip the eggs out or sweep, push, pull them into an underwater bucket, lift the bucket out and then gently pour them into the fish cage. It is best if you have a small tree branch to 'hang' drape the eggs in the cage so the ribbon gets good water circulation around and through the ribbon. The ribbon - tube is hollow. If you break or tear the ribbon it is not a big concern.
