So, do you think the change in furniture will have positive results? Did you see the Males doing that before?

The FHM males showed zero interest in the plywood which from what ive read is a pretty popular FHM breeding spot in a pond setting. I had one male that show interest in one small over hang from a rock, he even moved around the gravel below it into almost a bowl shape, he stayed in his spot for over a week. maybe I didnt give them enough time. Although the current setup is easier to feed them and not as much clutter so im hoping for the best.

There may have been additives int he plywood fouling the water like lamination glue or tree sap. Sounds like you did the right thing by re-working the setup. Curious to see how it goes!

I have a smaller tropical aquarium with an overcrowding issue. The darned fish (Tetras) keep breeding. Emperor tetras and red-faced tetras cannot stop themselves. It isn't even ideal water conditions being on the basic side. Just a lot of plants seems to make them happy.
