these bass were caught on the same day on our private lake...got a 3rd the same size as these...lost another when it broke me off..I put a few more pics on here went out yesterday and my cousin got a 23.5 inch bass..I went out for a few min this morning and got one 24.5 inches....enough fishing then back to the real world..lol
The lake is a former gravel pit in central Indiana about 100 acres...It was stocked 15 to 20 years ago...about 30 houses on the lake only about 3 of us ever fish....the lake has never really been managed per say but has produced a number of 7 to 10 pound bass...lake is 8 to 15 feet in most places goes down to 35 feet deep in a few places...has to creeks feeding it and 8 springs (from what I have been told)...has large mouth bass (best in the state IMO) has big flathead catfish (I know of a 18, 15, 25, and 50) but I never really fish for them...lots of shad..crappie...blue gill..(been told trophy perch but never tired)
The funny thing is i would bet you almost no bass have been removed in years and none stocked my guess is the catfish cull the smaller bass...would like to get a study done next year..
Yea I am sure they help the fishery most of the ones I know were caught on accident I would like to hook into one of the big ones but don't know enough about flatheads to get them....the 18 pounder was caught on a pop'r bait...
Went out today and my cousin got one 9.2 pounds biggest bass I have ever seen in person...I lost one in the 6 range...the fish our still hold up on the bank..his looked like it had already spawned so i'm sure they will move off soon but it has been fun this month...
