Everyone likes pictures so I thought I'd share mine of my small pond renovation project. I've always wanted a stocked fishing pond and when I bought this piece of property 5 years ago for deer hunting I soon realized the high water table would lend itself nicely to a water table pond. I confirmed that shortly after the land purchase with a test hole that I watched for a year to measure the water fluctuation. With an acceptable drop in water levels during the summer I decided to open it up a bit in 2010. I wanted to go bigger but at the time the budget didn't allow. I finally threw a little more money at it and should have close to a half acre pond with a max depth at full pool of around 10 feet when complete. The dragline was fun to watch work. That thing can move a lot of dirt in no time flat.

In a couple years after the pond has settled I may bring in a long reach excavator for a day to fine tune the depth down to 12 feet or so. With the pond being all sand I can only go so deep based on the size before the underwater sides start to collapse.

Getting the sand spread and anchoring my floating dock. Then stock HBG and SMB.
