Pond Boss Forums MANAGING AN EXISTING POND Feeding Feeding has slowed down.

My BG and Catfish have been eating great most of the summer, but for the past 2 weeks, they have slowed down.

I still see BG eating but I havn't seen any catfish.

Is it normal for them to change feeding habbits?

Do you know your water temps? I believe CC eat less when it gets close to/above 90 degrees F. Mine seemed to be off their feed slightly 2-3 weeks ago when temps peaked in the upper 80's. It's been cooler since then and they are back to normal.

If I catch a couple of mine, they get spooked for a week or so. They ignore everything.

I don't know about water temps, I'll check tonight.

I have caught a few recently, maybe that's it.

From my experience, the CC feed better the warmer the water gets. They are one of the few fish that I've found that respond that way. My guess would be that they are just a little spooked from a few being caught or there is a new forage for them that has popped up that they prefer to the pellets.

My bluegill have stopped eating too. I don't know if they've moved to another spot or what. It has finally cooled off here in NC, high temps are around 85* and we have not had any rain in about 3 weeks. Is this normal for fish to move or stop eating?
