I HAVE A 1.5 ACRE POND THAT WAS MADE BY DAMING UP A SMALL CREEK IN 1988. FISF ARE CHANNEL CAT,BLUE CAT,LARGEMOUTH BASS AND BLUEGILL. WHEN I BOUGHT THE PLACE IN JUNE 2006 ALABAMA FISHERIES DID A WORK UP. RECOMMENDATION PUT 4.5 TONS OF LIME IN THE POND. CATCH I25 BASS OUT THAT YEAR, CATCH ALL THE CATFISH POSSIBLE FOR A YEAR. WE TRIED BUT HAVE ONLY CAUGHT ABOUT 50 CATFISH, ALL RANGE FROM 9 TO 17 POUNDS. I PUT JUGS IN THE POND WITH CHICKEN LIVER AND THE LIVER ROTTED OFF THE HOOKS EXCEPT FOR ON LOGGERHEAD TURTLE. I CAN CATCH BASS AL AROUND THE POND BUT FEW BLUEGILL. YOU WILL CATCH FIVE OR SIX AND THEY STOP BITING. I PUT 2 WIRE BASKETS IN BUT ONLY CAUGHT ABOUT 70 FISH BEFORE THE BASKETS ROTTED. HELP ANY SUGGESTION WOULD BE APPREACIATED

I don't have an answer to your question but I'd like to welcome you to the pond boss forum. I for one wasn't concerned about your use of all caps. BGK may have better eyes than I do but reading this on my iPhone in all caps helped these older eyes. One of our experts will give you an answer I am sure (unless they are all fishing)

What have you been fishing with?

I've found that Channel Cats are hard to catch in a pond. Catch one or 2, and no more will bite until the next day. LMB get hook shy too unless you change your presentation up. Have you tried using a 3" BG fished live under a bobber?

Or a 3 inch BG fished under a jug at night? Cats become very conditioned.

I too am having this problem with my bass. I swear either the Blue Heron got them all or someone fished them out. I used to be able to catch 6 or 7 every time I went fishing. Now I fish all day maybe catch 2 LMB all day.

Yeah you know it's weird. You would think if you put a small popper on the LMB wouldn't know the difference and go for the easy meal. How can they be in the water going hmmmm I wonder if I should eat that or not??? That guy in the boat might be back with a lure again.... I'll just pass on that good looking bug this time? I've watched fish look at live bait, and believe they can see the hook or the line. There's a reason why flurocarbon line is popular!

I caught a bunch of BG to transfer into my pond with a white curly tail grub years ago. A white grub still doesn't work near as well in my pond as it did when catching those fish.

First off, Congrats! 17lb cats AWESOME! (Intentional use of caps) Conditioned bass or too much to eat.

Can the Alabama Fisheries do another "work-up" I would be interested in hearing their new thoughts and suggestions.

Pros on this forum could most likely do better, but if the AF has a history with this property it might serve well to solicite their thoughts.
