i've got a bunch of rosy red minnows (color morph of fathead minnows)
in a swimming pool in my basement, they've been breeding regularly in clay pots that i put in the pool.. when i started "testing" to see if i could do this, i pulled a pot out of the pool that had a bunch of eggs and put it in an established aquarium.. first try i didn't see any hatch.. second try i got the male that was taking care of the eggs (the male get's a "fat head" that he uses to keep the eggs clean)into the extra tank.. and had a successful hatch, but my greenwater culture wasn't established yet..
now that i have a couple more pieces of the puzzle figured out, i think i'll be able to breed rosy reds fairly easily indoors..i have tanks set up for daphnia as well as green water now..
working with glass shrimp, crayfish and scuds as well - scuds don't require anything special, and i've had lots of reproduction of them, but they are 1/2" or under
