Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Types of fish to choose CNBG in Central VA

From the posts on this board, I seem to be right on the line of where CNBG are advised. I am in Central VA, near Lynchburg. The hatchery in NC says they stock CNBG around here all the time, but I am a bit leary. I'd really like to use them if they will do well here...your thoughts?

Is there anyone further north than me that has had success with CNBG?

Your pond elevation might come into play too. You might want to mention what it is.

I would suggest feeding and mgt over intorducing CNBG. They may work but they may not work well. If I was in your situation and wanted new genes I would contact Cecil or Bruce and try to get some of their regular Condello BG.

BTW its not just latitude but all the enviornmental factors , temps , altitude , climate etc.

Being in Virginia, the only place in VA I would even consider stocking CNBG would be southeast VA. VA Beach, Suffolk, Chesapeake, etc... That area is coastal so it remains a bit warmer than inland and it is far south so it's the warmest area of the state.
